The Chaco War (1932-1935)

The most recent war Bolivia has been involved in was, The Chaco War. The was was faught between Bolivia and Paraguay, over control over the northern part of the Gran Chaco region of South America.

<-- Map of affected areas in Chaco War. The cause of the Chaco War, was over control of the Paraguay River. Having control over the river would have given one of the two landlocked countries to the Atlantic Ocean. This was especially important for Bolivia, because theyt had lost their access to the Pacific Ocean to Chile in the War of the Pacific.(1883)

<-- Paraguay River, cause of Chaco War. A ceasefire was negotiated on June 10, 1935 Paraguay controlled most of the region. This was recognized in a 1938 truce, signed in, Buenos Aires, by which Paraguay was awarded three-quarters of the Chaco Boreal. Bolivia did get the remaining territory, that bordered the Paraguay's River Puerto Busch.

- The was not a hero of the war, nor is the a US policy.
